We'll let him explain… "When I first started playing bass, I was influenced by all of the obvious players - guys like Geddy Lee, Billy Sheehan, Bruce Hall, and John Deacon. When I went back to college in the mid-90's, a whole new world opened up to me. I had more non-musical influences than musical ones. I began to see the bass as more of an extension of my body and soul. Since then, I've really been into reading thinkers like Jung and Nietzsche. If I hadn't started reading Jean Paul Sartre, I don't think I would be the bass player I am today."

After spending a couple of months at the prestigious Venkman, Stantz, and Spengler Bass and Haiku Performance Clinic in upstate New York, Brian rejoined his old friends to help form The Truth. Reuniting with drummer Bobby Kunkel was particularly enjoyable. "The rhythm section always has to lay down the foundation of any band", Brian says. "Some drummers and bass players take years to develop that continuity, but Bobby and I have already played together for years. So it was just like riding a bike, or maybe a tricycle, or perhaps a Big Wheel… whatever".

Whatever indeed. Brian is thrilled to be playing music in his hometown area, but would like to see The Truth expand its reach a bit. "I think Paraguay could be huge for the band and its music if we could only get our foot in the door." Time will tell.

Speaking of time, what does Brian like to do in his time away from The Truth? "Well, I pretty much divide my time among my job as a business systems analyst, my passion for fast cars, Penguin hockey, and my string cheese collection, but I live to rock out with The Truth."
